Bali, known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, has become a beacon of sustainable tourism in recent years. More travelers are seeking out eco-conscious accommodations that align with their values, and Bali\u2019s hospitality sector is rising to the challenge. From energy-efficient designs to waste-reduction efforts, eco-friendly practices are now more important than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our recent inspections of four of Ubud\u2019s finest hotels\u2014Komaneka Bisma, Bisma Eight, Pertiwi Bisma Ubud, and The Sense Hotel Ubud\u2014we had the opportunity to witness firsthand how Bali\u2019s hospitality industry is embracing sustainability. As the coordinator at IDSC (Indonesian Sustainable DMC Collaboration), and in collaboration with our DMC members, we traveled to Ubud on February 18th, 2025, alongside the teams from Destination Asia, Khiri Travel, and Happy Trails Team. We are proud to see the significant strides Bali\u2019s hotels are making toward a greener future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Komaneka Bisma<\/strong> has long been a leader in sustainability, and it truly shines in both eco-conscious and health safety practices. The hotel goes above and beyond by maintaining a pristine natural environment, ensuring that their waste is effectively separated and disposed of. Komaneka Bisma prioritizes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

maintaining harmony with the surrounding nature while fostering an eco-friendly environment for their guests. It\u2019s a place where sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a daily commitment, and their efforts to maintain a healthy and safe space are truly commendable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sense Hotel Ubud<\/strong> is another prime example of an eco-conscious property. A standout feature is their use of solar panels, which help reduce energy consumption while promoting sustainability. In addition to this, they excel in waste management and have an impressive water management system that helps reduce resource waste. The hotel blends nature with modern sustainability, creating a harmonious environment where guests can enjoy their stay while minimizing their environmental impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of their staff is made up of local people, fostering community involvement and ensuring that the hotel’s sustainability efforts have a direct positive impact on the local economy. Additionally, Bisma Eight has a well-established composting system, ensuring that waste is used to nourish their garden and crops. Their commitment to sustainability is seen not only in their food sourcing but also in the local employment opportunities they provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pertiwi Bisma Ubud<\/strong> is a relatively new property under new management, and while they are still progressing on their sustainability journey, their dedication to improving is evident. They have made significant strides, particularly in waste management, where they have developed an efficient and effective system. While they are still learning and adapting to the broader scope of sustainability, their willingness to learn and implement eco-friendly practices is a great sign for their future growth. Their commitment to sustainability may be in its early stages, but they are already setting a strong foundation for continued progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we walked through these four remarkable hotels, we couldn\u2019t help but feel inspired. It\u2019s clear that Bali\u2019s hospitality sector, supported by organizations like IDSC (Indonesian Sustainable DMC Collaboration)<\/strong> and in collaboration with our members DMC<\/strong> is not only focusing on delivering world-class experiences but also contributing to the island\u2019s sustainable future. The efforts we observed during our inspections were a powerful reminder that the future of travel is rooted in eco-conscious choices, and Bali is leading the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
